Here is the message I am getting from several students:
"Samantha and I tried to access this and we got into the authorization loop and we tried the troubleshooting option and still we were unable to access the login. The issue is that once she is prompted to select an account the school account (with her student ID) is grayed out and she can't select that user. She is supposed to add a new account."
Can you help?

Hello,
Have all of your students had this issue, or have some been successful using their student accounts?

That's good news! Can you confirm that those students that have been successfully connecting to their school accounts (not a personal account) can also see all the projects you have shared, and are able to open the projects and begin recording?

I have not sent out a project yet because I am still learning the app and did not want to send it out until I knew everyone was in. Is there a quick fix I can suggest until I get the project out? There are quite a few having problems, and I am teaching all day so having very little time to field their emails!

Hello, The reason I am asking for confirmation that those students that have been successful connecting to their school accounts and NOT their personal accounts is because I am wondering if your school email domain may have 3rd party apps disabled. It is important to know whether some students that are successfully connecting with their student email accounts because if they truly are able to connect with their student email accounts, this would suggest that those several that are experiencing their own school accounts 'gray-ed out' may have some kind of elective security setting enabled that prevents them from connecting to third party apps. However, if it turns out that even those students who have been successful connecting were actually only successful because they mistakenly connected to their personal account, this may suggest that there is a domain imposed security setting that prevents connection to third party apps. We suggest getting in touch with your school tech department and asking if 3rd party apps may need to go through an approval process before being 'whitelisted' for your school domain. Here is a link for domain installation from the Google Workspace Marketplace to pass onto your tech department. We are happy to cancel your subscription and issue a refund should you find that the app will not work for you and your students.

Hi: I will check with my tech department. In case I have 2 siblings, one who had no problem getting into the app and the other who could not get on. Should I send an email to parents asking them to disable the elective security setting? Thanks

Yes, however, it may be that the student who logged on successfully used a personal account, not a school account. The sibling who was not successful may have tried to connect to a school account and if the app is disabled by the school domain, this is beyond the parents' control.

Will the app work with a student's personal account? Would a workaround be to have the students set up a second gmail account?

Yes, the workaround (if the tech dept can't enable 3rd party apps) would be to use a personal account. The personal account cannot have Family Link enabled.
